It's Railroad Days here in Hinton, October 13th-15th, 2023! Locomotives have been making a locomotion since the dawn of their existence.
Of course Hollywood has been celebrating all this time with movies like The General in which the great Buster Keaton is an engineer who shows off his moves on his train "The General" in a thrilling, romantic silent film.
Murder on the Orient Express based on the Agatha Christie novel was made in 1974 and again in 2017. In this film, the famous Detective Poirot solves the murder of a rich Tycoon who is murdered aboard their luxurious transportation.
How about the 2022 film Bullet Train with it's colorfully stylistic, action packed train fight scenes. The world of snipers and hit men has never been more fun.
Whether it's on, in or about a train, it'll be a grand adventure. Please come visit The Ritz during Railroad Days. Our doors will be open so you can tour the historic theatre built in 1929 and we will be serving delicious popcorn and other movie theatre goodies. If you're in the mood to get spooked; we will be showing the Nun II, Friday at 7pm, Saturday at 4pm and 7pm and Sunday at 2pm.
The following two clips are some of the most endearing scenes brought to you via choo choo! The Nicholas Brothers and Dorothy Dandridge - "Chattanooga Choo Choo" from "Sun Valley Serenade" (1941) and Clarence Nordstrom and Ruby Keeler - Shuffle Off To Buffalo from "42nd Street" (1933) respectively. Please enjoy and Happy Railroad Days!
